It actually kinda really saddens me to see people only mention pots and never anemia and now I understand both why people tried to suggest we had pots on our shower post and how important our pots vs anemia info post is really going to be
No one actually understands or knows as much about anemia on here as they do pots so by comparison pots seems like the more important one to bring up (I know I'm not wording that correctly or the way I want to convey it but that's the best I got rn)
Anemia has just as many risks as pots esp with temperature, but I only ever see people bring up pots when it comes to heat and anemia when it comes to dizziness
From that alone it sounds like people really only have a simplified understanding of the basic symptoms of both if not just anemia
I'd really like to see anemia talked about more especially having a severe case myself

Morning run. Morning sunshine.
I headed out this morning thinking I would just do my little 1.5 mile commute run, but the weather was a little too perfect and I've been trying to push myself to build that stamina back up, and that extra 10ish isn't that much... so I made a mid-run decision (about when I took this photo) to run for full 30 minutes. Definitely worth it, especially relearning that I can in fact run for a half hour straight. So much of running is mental, I know that. But it's so easy to get caught up in those thoughts.
I run to prove to myself that I can do hard things. And keep my hemoglobin above 12.
The Deets
2.14 miles
30:03 minutes
14:03 minutes per mile
Crazy splits: 15:03 for my first mile and 13:21 for the second. I guess I really did need that second mile to wake up

Happy Monday from me as I wait around for my first iron infusion treatment, hopefully this means I’m on the path to feeling normal after years of this mess.

me when I told my friend I can’t donate blood because I have a blood disorder that keeps me from donating (thalassemia, it’s not severe but I already don’t have what my body needs, even being on my period is tough) and this girl said to me “you’re lucky, I’m always getting asked to donate blood because I’m a universal donor.”
like HUH?? what kind of FUCKERY? who says that??

OMG I stayed at this place It's a motel 6 outside Erie PA. I was Driving from my home in Toronto to New orleans for Mardi Gras. Well they are supposed to leave the light on for you and you can see they didn't. And they wouldn,t take my Canadian money. Plus they only had a room on the top floor and there was no elevator. Pure crap a lousy 8/10.

You know, it's a tragedy that there are no (or very little) Vampire x Christian stories out there, not for angst or theology or forbidden seductiveness or whatnot but for the sheer comedy of it all. I mean, the Christian would technically be immune to all of the vampire's shenanigans, like for example...
Vampire: Fool, I am the most powerful vampire in the West. Nothing but the force of an entire holy temple could even deign to scratch me Christian: Idiot, I AM a holy temple. 1 Corinthians 6:19, fear me and the Spirit inside that can burn you to ashes

Wait wait Ive known that I have anemia for like years now but your telling me that shit is ACTUALLY SERIOUS???? my doctor and my family made it seem like its "oh you'll be kind of drowsy sometimes... it shouldnt affect you too much... if you feel really tired you probably arent getting enough sleep...." and then I wonder why Im too tired to do Literally Anything all day you mean the reason I always feel like im on the verge of passing out is because I can ACTUALLY PASS OUT??? Disabled people should be allowed to punch doctors in the face holy shit

Hi! Just wanted to tell you that I read one of your posts about pernicious anemia, and thought “well that sounds exactly like what my weird body issues ™️ have been like”, got my doctor to run tests, and it turns out my b12 was basically non-existent. Got medication fairly recently and am finally starting to feel better, and I just wanted to thank you so very much, I don’t think I would’ve thought about that possibly being the problem without you. Everyone just wrote it off as stress.
I'm so glad you're starting to feel better!
Unfortunately, pernicious anemia/low b12 is overlooked these days by a lot of doctors (it's less of a concern with our fortified diets and can often be masked by the high levels of folic acid that get added into cereal and flour) and is often mistaken for mood disorders or just "stress."
As a point of interest, after I was diagnosed, the hematologist who saved my life said that he thought it should be mandatory to test ALL patients with mental health issues for low b12 because just being even slightly low can severely affect mood stability.
So, y'know, it's been a while since I've posted about b12 deficiency, so for anyone new here, please include b12 checks in your annual blood workup. You never know what it might be affecting!
